With the end of the year comes the expiration of our cards! What should you do to keep using yours? Which benefits are worth keeping? Everything you need to know about revalidating both digital and plastic cards is in this article.
How and where to revalidate ISIC/ITIC/Alive cards?
At the end of the calendar year, the validity of some ISIC, ITIC a Alive/AliveID cards expires. If revalidation hasn’t been done, from January 1 of the following year these cards can no longer be used for transport, discounts with retailers, or to get discounted ISIC travel insurance. To regain access to all the benefits, you need to extend the validity of your card — ideally before it expires, but you can still do it afterward with an expired card. How?
A card issued at school can be extended
You can extend the validity of a school-issued ISIC/ITIC/Alive/AliveID card directly at the school that issued it. Each school has its own system, so you need to find the contact person responsible for student cards. They will extend your card electronically, which you'll see immediately in the Alive App. Some schools may also issue revalidation stickers for the plastic version of the card.
Everything about digital revalidation at schools, using digital cards, and frequently asked questions can be found in the article on how to extend card validity without a revalidation sticker and where this is already possible.
Universities where you can also obtain a revalidation sticker
- MENDELU Brno (ISIC, ITIC, Alive Student, Alive Staff)
- MU Brno (ISIC, ITIC)
- MUP (ISIC, ITIC, Alive Student, Alive Staff)
- UHK (ISIC, ITIC)
- UJEP Ústí nad Labem (ISIC)
Ideally, extend the validity in time before the end of the year to avoid suspension of benefits. However, you can still request revalidation even if the card has already expired.
Do you have a card issued online via isic.cz?
The validity of an ISIC/ITIC/Alive/AliveID card that wasn’t issued by a school but purchased online via www.isic.cz cannot be extended. To keep using the benefits, you need to order a new card with updated validity, which you can easily do online starting in September. The new card will be valid for up to 16 months.
Your card will be issued primarily in digital form, but you can purchase a plastic version at any time. You can easily display the digital card in the Alive App and use it for both transport and with benefit partners. In the app, you’ll also find your insurance and new offers or contests every month.
