The Arena Chamber Theater was founded in 1994. Over the course of a quarter-century of its existence, it has gradually risen to the top of the Czech theater scene, as evidenced by its exceptional achievements on a national scale, culminating in four wins of the highest award, Theater of the Year (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017).

Arena focuses on so-called actor-driven theater, and the most frequently staged genre is tragicomedy. The fundamental dramaturgical approach is a critical reflection on the world in which we live today, which it achieves through both classical and contemporary plays, though in both cases always with an ironic detachment and cynical humor. Its productions are regularly recorded by Czech Television, and the theater is invited to prestigious Czech as well as international theater festivals.
